MEDEQUIP PRODUCT GUIDE
Cold Therapy
Compare standard cooling, cold with compression, and iceless systems.
Cooling • Comfort • Recovery

Cold therapy applies controlled cooling after an injury or surgery. Clinicians often use it as part of a plan to manage pain and swelling. Some systems also apply compression through a wrap. The right option depends on the procedure, prescribed protocol, skin and circulation, and practical details such as ice refills.
When and how is it used?
Your surgeon may recommend a compatible pad or wrap for the knee, shoulder, or another area after surgery or an acute injury. A Medequip specialist can show you how to prepare the unit, connect tubing, fit the pad, and operate the controls.
Which option should I choose?
A standard unit may meet a prescription for cooling alone. A cold compression system adds intermittent pressure; NICE1 avoids ice refills, while the Wave uses an ice-and-water reservoir. Coverage for the unit, compression features, pads, and rental can differ. Cold therapy is not covered by traditional insurance – commercial, Medicare, or Medicaid. It may be covered by the VA and workers compensation insurance.
SELECTED SOLUTIONS
Compare cold therapy systems
NICE1 offers iceless cold and compression; Wave combines ice-based cooling with compression; Cold Rush and IceMan circulate cold water without active compression.
